Logo Design (1892)

The first logo of Loewe reflected the brand’s exclusivity and strong historical heritage. Arranged in three tiers, it displayed the brand name above the city of Madrid and the year of establishment, creating a balanced and formal composition.

Introduced after the leather workshops united under a single brand in the late 19th century, the emblem was named in honor of Enrique Loewe Roessberg, whose leadership helped the company become an official supplier to the Spanish royal court. Decorative intertwined “W” elements added a sense of elegance and craftsmanship, reinforcing Loewe’s reputation for exceptional leather goods.

Founded

Loewe founded 1846

The history of Loewe began in 1846, when a group of Spanish leather artisans established a small workshop in Madrid. This modest workshop laid the foundation for one of the world’s oldest luxury brands.

In 1872, German craftsman Enrique Loewe Roessberg joined the workshop. His expertise and innovative approach to leatherworking significantly enhanced the quality of its products and helped build the workshop’s growing reputation.

In 1892, the business was officially renamed Loewe in his honor. By then, the company had become renowned for its finely crafted leather goods and had established itself as a preferred supplier to the Spanish aristocracy.
