Logo Redesign
2003
The initial version of the SpaceX logo underwent refinement after designers identified several issues with its proportions and letterforms.
The logo gained global visibility during the first crewed mission operated by SpaceX. It appeared on the Crew Dragon spacecraft, the Falcon 9 rocket, and Tesla transport vehicles used for the mission. For that historic launch, NASA also revived its classic “worm” logo, using it alongside the agency’s traditional “meatball” insignia.
Logo Design
2002
The early SpaceX logo featured a two-tier design. The upper line displayed the word “SPACE” in gray alongside a stylized blue “X” formed by three broad stripes. One elongated diagonal stroke extended toward the “E” without touching it, fading gradually to suggest movement into space. The overall design emphasized technology, innovation, and the company’s focus on space exploration.
